The first jet ski, manufactured by Kawasaki in 1973 (model JS400) as a stand up personal watercraft (PWC).  Since then the term 'jet ski' has evolved to mean any type of personal watercraft.  Some of the major manufacturers are Kawasaki, Yamaha, Bombardier and Honda.  They have helped develop the sport into what it is today both racing and freestyle.
